What you do not measure you cannot improve. And isn’t this the very essence of business process management? But often you don’t know what’s going on ‘in the middle’. Only knowing what happened in retrospect and looking at outcomes is not sufficient, knowing how this was achieved is just as important. In other words, understanding process behavior and having end-to-end process visibility is a key factor in driving any improvement initiative. 

Enter process mining. Process mining complements traditional BI and delivers the capabilities to link KPIs to business process execution. Insight into the process rather than merely the outcomes makes it possible to alter course if things threaten to go wrong in order to prevent risk, to take measures to prevent future anomalies, make sure the company complies with regulation, and/or to eliminate waste and defects in order to reduce costs, improve efficiency and boost customer satisfaction.
